North Perth Arts and Culture Promotion Policy
Definitions specific to this policy:
Arts: The arts is composed of many expressive disciplines and encompasses, but is not limited to: visual arts, fine arts, literature, culinary arts, media arts, and performing arts.
Artists: Artists are those engaged in all aspects of the expressive disciplines including:
Visual Artists: producing images or objects through drawing, painting, photography, sculpting and crafting
Literary Artists: writing, editing, publishing, story telling, and spoken word
Culinary Artists: creating and presenting food
Media Artists: video, film, web, radio, television
Performing Artists:
- Music: composing, performing, recording, conducting
- Drama: acting, directing, producing
- Dance: choreography, dancing
Culture:
Culture encompasses artistic, musical, literary, culinary, and social elements. Cultural events bring together community in the celebration or sharing of information about the traditions and heritage of various aspects of our global community.
North Perth Arts and Culture Council promotes arts and culture opportunities by:
• providing, or supporting others who provide, entertainment opportunities for the community to appreciate arts and culture
• providing, or supporting others who provide, educational opportunities for the community to learn or further develop artistic skills
• providing, or supporting others who provide, experiences which inform the community about aspects of a particular culture
Promotion Policy
North Perth Arts and Culture Council will promote:
Artist Members:
• presenting their talent at specific locations or events
• presenting opportunities for the community to participate in learning experiences related to arts and culture in the area of North Perth
• exhibits, activities and events, in the area of North Perth, sponsored by artist members, that provide arts or cultural experience, entertainment, or interaction with artists
Non-Artist Member Events:
• arts and culture events, as defined above, sponsored by churches, provided the events are separate from regular worship services
• arts and culture events, as defined above, sponsored by schools and not-for-profit organizations
Should an artist, other than the above, wish to be promoted, it is required he/she become an artist member of North Perth Arts and Culture Council.
